How old is too old for an MBA? More info for an mba older student

Although the typical age of an MBA student is around 28, we feel that there is no absolutely right age, as far as this issue is concerned, how old is too old? The younger students may feel they are too young, the older ones that they are too old. But really, age is not an issue. There is no doubt that you will be accepted by a business school of your choice if you can prove that you are interested enough. Tell them why an MBA is important for your career, how it will accelerate; show the skills and experience that you already have and how you can improve a class ambience. And if they mention the age issue, ask them: how old is too old?

Although competition is fierce, you need to be especially clear about your goals if you've past the age 30 mark. In your essay needs to show your goals and ambitions, if your sense of purpose shows through, then the admissions committee will understand that you are not just looking for a way to adjust your life routine. This is not just a way of changing jobs, this is a real target. Make the admissions committee sense this.

In fact, B-schools may look even more favorably upon the 'older' student since they seek applicants who have four or five years of work experience before they are accepted. Keep in mind that not everyone is geared for the intense competition on the job market and willing to settle for the starting salaries that B-school graduates earn. Be sure that you gear yourself up by asking 'how old is too old' and if the answer you come up with fits your own age, you should be fine. Getting an MBA is definitely not for everyone and trying to get into a top school is a real effort in itself.
