When speaking of the most important aspects of choosing an MBA programs, there is none more important than accreditation. Proper MBA accreditation is provided in many cases by external bodies. They provide an unbiased view to students and employers of the quality of students and the schools educational curriculum must meet with specific standards. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is generally regarded as the most prestigious MBA accreditation organization. It covers business schools on an international basis.
In the United States MBA accreditation takes place in six regional agencies that are members of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASCSC), North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) also provide MBA accreditation.
Unfortunately anyone can make up a fake accrediting agency; there are many world wide and these organizations give the impression of being incredibly professional. In most cases, this type of agency is not only not respected, but accreditation gained from them is not 'worth the paper it is printed on.' Beware! MBA accreditation is so important for your future career promotions. |
